Here are my William Dzus artifacts. I admire him greatly. He was a hard-working, kind, and generous man. He came to the United States with little more than ambition and a name of someone to vouch for him and provide him work. He persevered though many setbacks and hardships before gaining recognition though his patent for the Dzus Fastener. He made an important contribution to the WWII defense production, provided his community with jobs, worked to preserve Ukrainian culture, and saved many from the horrors of communism.
He was also my great-grandfather. Thank you, William.
My grandfather, Theodore Dzus, was an avid amateur filmmaker. The following link is a collection of his films from the late 1930s until the mid 1960s. I’ve got his 8mm films on youtube somewhere – I’ll give you a link in a later post.
We’ve got a rather comprehensive archive of Dzus and Davis family photos from the 1920’s until the present. I think mostly we’re missing photos of the kids from 1998 to 2009. I’ll remedy that eventually.
